quelle suprise!

I'd never have expected this column from this man.

I'd never have expected to agree with him, either. I wonder what my congregants will think - fans of both Boortz and Limbaugh.

It's kind of like Danny Glover's recent comments that the failure in Copenhagen has Mother Earth ticked... so She's causing this tragedy..

"What happened in Haiti could happen to anywhere in the Caribbean because all these island nations are in peril because of global warming."

"When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I'm saying? We have to act now!"

And then there is Pat Roberson's righteous rant about Haiti forming a league with the Devil... what... 200 years ago... so God is going to kill a bunch of folks today for what was done 200 years ago? Want Pat's exact quotes? Here they are...
“Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it," he said. "They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, ‘we will serve you if you will get us free from the French.’

“True story. And so, the devil said, ‘OK, it's a deal.’"

Of course he was quick to blame Katrina on the immorality in the US... etc, etc, etc... and I reamed him for that here if you all remember.

It is of course rubbish... and to see every natural disaster as the consequence of man's errors and sins... even those committed generations ago... and the punishment being bore down generations/centuries later... that even denies the promises of God in Ezekiel chapter 18, and summed up in verse 20....
"The person who sins is the one who will die. A son won't suffer punishment for the father's iniquity, and a father won't suffer punishment for the son's iniquity."

Pat Robertson's comments are rubbish scripturally.

Danny Glover's comments are just... hilarious and superstitious...

[PS... My Wife and I have sent a donation to the Red Cross for the Haitian relief efforts.]

I hadn't heard the remarks from Copenhagen, but one of those "week in review" TV shows (can't for the life of me remember the name of the famous man who hosts it) calls out an MSNBC anchor for using the hurricane as leverage to push her agenda.

Doesn't matter which side of the fence; using tragedy for pushing agnedas is reprehensible.

(and it seems that I read some commenter responding to Robertson's comments that Haiti was actually a country before Napoleon was born?)... and the pact with the devil is urban legend.

Limbaugh's predicting that Obama will use it as leverage to gain the black vote ... yadda yadda. How about shutting your trap and joining folks in prayer? Then intimating that they're stealing some of the relief money .... grrrr.

In any case, Boortz is usually pretty conservative and I don't like listening to his show because he and his callers always sound so angry!!! I thought it was an interesting perspective and pretty gutsy since a lot of his followers are Christians. (then again, the piece starts out with his admitting he needs dissension in his line of work in order to be successful, so ... who's pushing whose agenda?) (Gee, I'm getting cynical in my old age)
