I'm starting a stewardship series.

We are called to be eagerly generous. Stewards give of all their resources. How we live our lives reflect our love for God. What we say states God's claim on our life. Why we study deeps our understanding of God.

My son, Toby was reading in the newspaper this evening and came across an ad for a horse. It read, "Must sell horse! Wife took up Possum hunting, horse does not like tote Possum in a sack. Good horse for sale. $500" The Huntsville Times, Thursday June 22, 2000 D13. I am thinking about this being my lead into to preaching on being a generous Christain. Thom in DC

What abundance do we have that we might share? Peter told the lame one at the Temple--"...such as I have I give thee." A lead article on the UMC website is of a Childrens of Africa offering in TN by a 4 year old girl "a bright assortment of hair clips, play money, and seven cents." My Stewardship series and our stewardship campaign. Stewardship is a spiritual matter.

July 2 - Corinthians passage, being eager (generous) to give and share. our faith, ourselves, in response to God's grace.

July 9 - Mark passage - Nothing but trust, the disciples are sent out with nothing but their trust in God. How would our lives be radically different if we truely trusted God revealed in Jesus Christ by the Spirit.

July 16 - Psalm reading - Everything belongs to God, we think that possession in 9/10ths of the law which means that the other tenth belongs to God. If we are stewards, we really own nothing it all belongs to God.

July 23rd - Gospel reading - going out of our way to find Jesus, going out of our way is making a commitment, giving up our original plans.

Hi Friends

8;13-15 WILL BE PART OF MY MESSAGE, I WILL ALSO USE FROM A WRITING BY C. ERIC LINCOLN "YOU WILL WORK FOR THEM BUT NOT WITH THEM. YOUR HEART WILL BLEED FOR THEM BUT NOT YOUR HEAD OR YOUR HANDS. YOU WILL BE THEIR ADVOCATE BUT NOT THEIR FRIENDS. YOU WILL SPONSOR THEM AND THEIR CAUSES, BUT THEIR CAUSE IS NOT YOUR ANYMORE BECAUSE YOU ARE MIDDLE CLASS" ONE OF JOHN WESLEY'S GREATEST FEARS WAS THAT THE SO-CALLED METHODIST PEOPLE WOULD BE COME MIDDLE CLASS AND FORGET OUR HERITAGE AND THOUGH STILL FEELING FOR THE LESS FORTUNATE, IT WOULD BE ONLY WITH THE HEAD AND NOT THE HEART. I ALSO HAVE A CHILDRENS ILLUSTRATION WITH THIS PASSAGE.

GOD'S PEACE!
